We had an 8 am flight from Cusco back to Lima. It felt sad to say goodbye to our guide, Rene!
And the splendor of Machu Picchu!
After a 3 hour layover, we boarded our flight from Lima, Peru to Quito, Ecuador. There was a bit of "excitement" when most of our tickets couldn't be read by the scanners and 12 of us had to race back to the ticket counter to get new ones! After the 2 1/2 hour flight, we had an hour bus ride from the new Quito airport to the heart of the city. Our new guide, Edgar, gave us an orientation of this second leg of our journey. We took a 15 minute walk to get our bearings, then had dinner at our hotel.
Everyone is tired from getting up so early and traveling all day. Looking forward to sightseeing tomorrow.
