Lima, Peru

We arrived in Lima at 6 am after two uneventful flights.  Met up with our tour guide, Rene, and our 13 travel companions.

To keep ourselves awake, we took a 10 minute walk to the Pacific Ocean to visit the statue of two lovers.  It was very misty/foggy.  Lima only gets 2 inches of actual rainfall per year.  The mist and fog is their precipitation.
There was another park that included an Oceanside outdoor mall:

Later in the morning, our group did a walking tour of the MiraFlores district and enjoyed a Peruvian lunch.
Gregg and I both tried cerviche - raw fish marinated in a spicy lime dressing (yes, I actually ate it and yes, it was actually good!)

Also ate a beef dish with both rice AND fried potatoes!

Our afternoon included a trip to the National Museum of Archeology.  Then some time spent in the square in downtown Lima.  Since it was Palm Sunday the square was filled with people and music!

And tired puppies!

We also visited the Catacombs of St. Francisco. Outside is a sanctuary for pigeons (yuck!)
We topped off our day with a delicious dinner at a restaurant called Tanta, where Gregg and I shared a Peruvian version of paella.

We say goodbye to Lima first thing tomorrow morning!
