At 8 am our pangas picked us up to take us to the island. Within 2 minutes we saw pelicans, frigate birds, blue-footed boobies, penguins and sea lions!
We got off the pangas on Isabel Island and walked along a path among the lava rocks. We saw hundreds of iguanas and lizards, some frigate birds and a playful sea lion.
Back to the Carina and a snack. We changed into bathing suits, boarded the pangas again, and went snorkeling - a first for me! Thanks to Debbie Sizer for sticking with me the first few minutes until I got the hang of it!
There was a delicious lunch on the boat, then 2 hours of delightful siesta time on the shady and breezy top deck of the Carina.
Later in the afternoon we went back to another part of Isabel Island and walked past a place where flamingos like to be.
And we visited a tortoise preserve where they collect eggs and raise the tortoises until they can be released into the wild.
We walked into town where most of our group enjoyed Ecuadorian beer. Others of us played in the ocean.
Then it was back to the Carina for dinner and sleep.
